End of Semester Due Dates

165 Students: 
1. On Monday 25 at the end of class you will present your Walk/Jump animations.
2. Below is a list of drawings I will be looking for in your sketchbook on Tuesday. 
Due Tuesday 26 at the start of class.

3. Please create an electronic folder with your name on it, place 6 colored versions of your best drawings from this semester, jpg. or png. will work fine.
A folder labeled, "165 portfolio" has been set up in the class folder.
Due Wednesday 27 at the start of class.
4. On Wednesday 27 the quiz will be given.
5. On Thursday the 28, the 5 Minute presentations will done.

166 Students:
1. On Monday the 25 at the end of class, please turn in the following as scanned documents into an electronic folder with your name on it, into a folder labeled, "166 portfolio". The folder will be in the class folder on scratch.

2. On Thursday the 28 you will present the final showing of your Movie project animatic.

7/14/16 Homework

165 Students:
Draw yourself in a 3 different Anime styles, blue/red pencil, ink, color is optional:
1. Rubber Hose
2. Angular
3. Furry


166 Students:
In your watercolor sketchbook, draw out your characters and create a character line up. Draw in red/blue pencil, ink with watercolor pencil and outline with black ink after the watercolor is dry.

7/13/16 Homework

165 Students:
The next step of the walk cycle is to stop. Note the 3 middle drawings the body is the same only the head has turned. Use the same technique used for the walk cycle drawings, trace the body, only change the head.
166 Students:
Bring your watercolor pencils, brush pen and water color sketchbook to class on Thursday. I will demonstrate and assign a homework project to be done with the water color pencils.

Walk Cycles

165 Students:
Tonight please work on your character page, follow the guidelines demonstrated in class. Use the character page below to help with the positioning of the figure. Please keep in blue/red pencil, be ready to show it to me in class, if it looks good you can ink and create your character spin. 
Once you are done with the character page you can begin working on the walk cycle. To begin, you are only drawing 4 poses Contact, Down, Pass, Up (See previous post for reading assignment).

7/11/16 Homework

165 Students:
Get ready for the next animation project... you will be creating a character that will be you or a human like character that walks on two legs.

1. In your sketchbook, using your blue/red pencil draw at least 12 variations on a theme, like the example shown below. Pencil only NO PEN!


 2. Pick one variation of that character and re-draw it in 6 different  styles. In the end, pick one of those drawing styles, it will be the character you draw  
3. The final drawing will be used to create a character page. You can start the character page after I have seen your design. We will talk more about the character page on Tuesday.

If you would like to get ahead a little you can read about the walk cycle in the Richard Williams text book. Read 107-108, 122, 136, 151-153, 163.

7/6/16 Homework

165 Students:
1. Please ink your backgrounds
2. Place a clean sheet of paper over your inked background and using your red pencil, draw your sack in the key poses that it needs for the animation.

Tomorrow in class, please scan your backgrounds and color in Illustrator. Show me your sack drawings if they look good you can scan and ink them also, then begin assembling the Sack animation video.




166 Students:
1. On Thursday we will look at your character spins.
2. We will also revisit your storyboard animatics.

7/5/16 Homework

165 Students:
1. Tomorrow when you come into class, have in mind one or two options for the environment that you place the sack into. It should relate to the design you used for your sack character.
2. In your sketchbook, using your red pencil,  design a studio logo that represents you. In class you will ink, color and add it to your animation. 
3. Use a combination of characters and text..
