2/28 Homework

165 Students:
1. In your sketchbook, full page, full body, using your red or blue pencil, draw yourself in 3 different variations as a UPA style Leprechaun character .
2. Pick one of the 3 and add ink using two different pens. Have fun, we will look at them in class on Thursday.
3. On Thursday at 9:15 during lab time, I will demonstrate how to color with shadows in Illustrator. (This is bonus information, you are not required to stay however it will add a lot to the look of your work).

166 Students:
Please review the page shown below as you begin working on your character page. On Thursday, we will review your draft character pages with only simple character shapes in place. Pencil Only

2/23 Homework

165 Students:
1. Watch all the cartoons shown below, look at how the body's are built. In your sketchbook, try to copy some of the characters in the cartoons before you try drawing your caricature. For many of you this will be the first time trying this style.
2. In your sketchbook, using red/blue pencil, draw yourself full body as a UPA Style character. Add ink using two different pens, have fun, we will look at them in class on Tuesday. Below are many samples of the UPA Style.
3. On Tuesday we will continue working on the Leaf Drop animations.

On Tuesday we will look at your first concept sketches. Do not ink them, keep them rough so that they can be adjusted.

2/21 Homework

165 Students:
1.  In your sketchbook, full page, using your red or blue pencil, draw yourself as a Charles Schulz style character, full body, add ink using two different pens. Have fun, we will look at them in class on Thursday.
2. If you have not begun creating a studio title card for yourself, rough out a couple of sketches. Think of it as if you owned an animation studio, what would you call it and what would the logo be. Look at 
last weeks post for some ideas.

The collection below is a fun bonus image I had in my collection of Horror icons as Schulz style characters. 


166 Students:
1. For Thursday, work on putting together images of the characters and the backgrounds from your chosen movies.
2. Start making some sketches of the characters. As you do, think about the following.

2/16 Homework

165 students:
1. Begin working on the leaf project, go to the leaf drop tab at the top of the blog and begin work on designing your tree shape. We will look at them on Tuesday.
2. If you did not get a chance to finish inking your comic, please do so for homework. On Tuesday everyone needs to scan and turn in the completed, cleaned up comics.
3. If you want to get a little ahead you can start working on creating a studio title card for yourself. Think of it as if you owned an animation studio, what would you call it and what would the logo be. Below are sample logo's.

1. On Tuesday we will look at your walk, fly, swim animations.
2. We will talk about creating character pages.  

Monster Draw Coming Soon

Monster Draw: The goal for the event is to create and share drawing ideas and see some great movies with others. At different times the movie will pause and the drawing begins, the times for the drawing will range from 4 to 6 minutes. Bring your sketchbooks, pencils and pens. Admission is free.

2/9 Homework

Homework
165 students:
1.  In your sketchbook, full page, using your red or blue pencil, draw yourself as a 40's era expressive Tex Avery/Basil Wolverton character, full body. Have fun, we will look at them in class on Thursday. 
(Inking your drawing is optional).
2. If you have not read the homework reading from the last class please do so before the next one.
3. On Thursday you will have time to finish the ball bounce project.

166 Students:
1. We will look at the second draft of your walk, fly, swim cycles.
2. Next week we will talk about the big project.
