3/22 Mid-Term Project


Hi Everyone, 
Just a note from my cave, you all know that the campus is closed, however I wanted to make good on my promise to give 165 students, the information about the mid-term. It will be easier for you to work on it when school is out. Have Fun!
PS. I will be doing it also and posting it onto the blog.

165 Students:
Please go to the tab at the top of the blog entitled "100 Heads" all of the details of the Mid-Term project are available.

166 Students:
We will review your thumbnail boards when we return.

3/20 Homework

165 Students:
1. Draw yourself as an Anime style character, go to the Anime tab at the top of the blog and follow the directions.
2. On Thursday I will discuss the Mid Term drawing project.
3. On Thursday at 7:00 we will look at the 
UPA drawings and your Anime drawings.
4. Mark your calendar, invite your friends for Monster Draw, April 6th. Extra Credit!!! See the poster to the right for details. 

166 Students:
1. On Thursday we will look at your story boards.
2. At the end of class I will collect your character spins and character pages if you have not turned them in already, they do not need to be inked, you will turn in the inked versions at the end of the semester.

3/15 Class Recap and Homework

165 Students:
1. Please have your backgrounds inked, colored and ready to go for Tuesday, we will begin building the sack drop animation.
2. If you have not done so, please ink your UPA character.
3. EXTRA CREDIT!!! Draw yourself as a UPA style Leprechaun, Yep! the ones below are me...

166 Students:
I have placed a new tab at the top of the Blog called "Pitch Bible" it has a break down of your big project and how it should all come 
together in the end.

Class Recap and Homework

165 Students: 
1. If you have not outlined your background for the Sack Drop project, please do so and have it ready for Thursday.
2. Drawing homework, in your sketchbook, full page, in red or blue pencil, draw yourself as a UPA style character. I have placed a tab at the top of the blog with a break down of the style and a link to a great collection of UPA artwork.

166 Students: 
On Thursday we will talk about the next step in your project, The creation of a story board animatic. I have placed a tab at the top of the blog for you called storyboarding. Please review before we meet on Thursday.

3/8 Class Recap and Homework

165 Students:
1. Wow, your leaf drop animations are looking so good.

2. Super job following along with the drawing video with John Nevarez, check out his work.

3. For homework, follow the steps on the 3 perspective handouts and try recreating each one in the space provided. Pencil only, turn in on Tuesday

4. For Homework, Draw a sketch of the space were the sack drop will happen, keep it in pencil, and only use the middle 3rd of the page. Make sure you create a high point and a mid point for the sack to jump from. Please go to the sack drop tab at the blog for more information. When you draw your background, think about the video we watched, and how John Nevarez tweaked the drawings.

3/6 Class Recap and Homework

165 Students:
1. Good job with the Leaf Drop projects.
2. Go to the "Perspective" tab at the top of the blog and prepare for the next animation.
3. If you did not finish your sack design in class be sure to have it inked and scanned by the start of class on Thursday.
4. Go to the "Sack Drop" tab and review for next class. 
5. Thursday we will go over perspective  for animation and watch a special video on designing your backgrounds to have personality.

166 Students:
Thursday your character pages are due.

3/1 Class recap and Homework

165 Students:
1. For homework, please ink your expressive character drawings. For the first time I am really looking varying line quality in your inking. Use a thicker line for the outline of your character and a thin line for the inner lines. Due Tuesday
2. Tuesday we will complete the leaf drop.

166 Students:
Due Thursday next week, pencil drafts of the character pages for your main characters. See "Character Page" tab at the top of the blog.
